Shocking service struggle to get appointment for months, reception are a useless bunch that make it harder to been seen by your doctor. Leaving this surgery due to the poor services!

Response from Eagle House Surgery

I was surprised to read your comment as pre-bookable appointments are available on most days. Perhaps you wished to see a particular doctor at a designated time? We are changing our appointment system from next week, so please either collect a Newsletter from reception or look on our website: eaglehousesurgery.co.uk where it will be posted shortly. Prebooked a appointment 4 weeks ago. Arrived today checked in. After waiting 25 minutes i approached reception and asked if the GP was running behind. I was informed he wasnt even in yet as was the GP on call. I advised the receptionist that i had prebooked 4 weeks ago and had to go work and did she know when he would be in to be told no but hopefully not much longer. Why are prebooked appointments being made for DR on call and being told no other Dr was available to see me instead. Shocking service

I am sorry you had to wait and completely understand your frustration, having booked a month in advance. It may be that at the time of booking the Doctor on Call rota had not been finalised, and the receptionist who booked it was not aware that the GP you wished to see would be on call. We are changing our appointment system from next week and the rotas are being done some time in advance, so I very much hope this does not happen again. Please take a Newsletter from reception, or log onto our website: eaglehousesurgery.co.uk where it will be posted shortly. Practice Manager

Calling for an appointment at any time especially in the mornings is a no no I have been a patient now for at least 20 years and nothing has changed in regard to this. I have every sympathy that the surgery may be over stretched but surely the appointments line needs seriously reviewing .

Thank you for your comments. The appointment system is changing next week - please take a Newsletter from reception or log onto our website where it will be posted shortly: eaglehousesurgery.co.uk. From 5 September, any patient who wishes to book a same day routine appointment and they have all been booked by other patients, will be able to speak directly to the doctor on call if they ring the surgery before 3 pm. The Nurse Triage service will continue. It may also be an option to speak to the Triage Nurse between 8.45 and 10 am and 4 - 4.30 pm daily. The Triage Nurse can book patients directly into a same day GP appointment if medically indicated. Practice Manager

Difficult to get an appointment with a GP for my children. They can only see a nurse even though there is a history of breathing difficulties and allergies which has resulted in referrals to secondary services.

Response from Eagle House Surgery

As you may recall, when patients register at this surgery, they are asked to sign the Patients' Agreement, which confirms that they are happy to consult the Nurse Triage Service for children or for minor illness. However, can I also clarify that the Triage Nurse can book your children into a same day GP appointment, if this is medically indicated. I hope this explanation has been helpful. Practice Manager

the only problem at the surgery is that the toilets are looked and it can be difficult to get some one to open them. I understand why they lock them but when you are there and ill you dont always have the time to get the receptionist attention. As for anyone this can lead to embarrassing results . would it not be better to give the code to the patients and then see if that works .that way only the staff and members of the surgery can you the toilets

Response from Eagle House Surgery

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately we had to lock the toilets about 18 months ago due to abuse of these facilities by some of our patients. We had a meeting with the surgery's Patient Participation Group to explain some of the problems, and posted a Newsletter on line and in reception to make patients aware of the reasons why we took the difficult decision to lock them. The decision was supported by the PPG. I hope this is helpful. Practice Manager
